Mastering Television in London
Studying abroad was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. I feel as though my mind found a new direction in which to expand. It even helped me define what it means to be African American. I encourage every student to take advantage of the study abroad opportunities available to them. Economically, traveling to a foreign country for such an extended period of time is likely to never be more affordable.
When deciding what was next for me, I got caught on two major criteria: I needed to travel more before my career gets serious and I'm cast in the Viola Davis biopic, and I needed to increase my hireability. Applying for work in Los Angeles has shown me that there's a lot to learn, and that I can't afford to pick it up as I go. My next move would be a degree and would have to leave me with more technical know-how.
My bestest bud called me and was like "I'm applying to a masters programs in London. Totally come with!" Her timing was perfect. I had been researching degrees on and off for months and it was the perfect push to apply. I narrowed 7 schools down to a top three and applied to all of them for safety's sake.
Safe indeed. I am so grateful to have options and the support of my family and friends as I turn my dreams into goals. If you'd like to read more about my vision, program of choice & learn how to help me move forward, visit Mastering TV in London!
